Lillian was welcomed into God’s family today with her baptism at First Presbyterian Church in Las Cruces. Grandpa Tom and Grandma Carol stood in as her sponsors while Pastor Story officiated.

Sadly for her, the baptism time in the liturgy coincided with half-way through her bottle, so she was expressing her hunger (aka screaming) throughout. To complete the perfection of an infant baptism, she spit up on the baptismal gown Grandma Carol made years ago for Uncle Caleb’s baptism and that has been worn by all the children and grandchildren, including Alonzo. On top of that, Alonzo spent his time squirming to be let down and to play in the water in the baptismal font. At least the congregation got a memorable service…

In preparation for renovations to the casita, we had moved everything out of the nursery and into Mommy and Daddy’s room. Today, after Grandpa Tom and Daddy’s epic conquering of a new Ikea dresser assembly process, we finally set up the nursery the way it is meant to stay and Lillian had her first night sleeping in her own room. Hopefully, this will help Daddy get more sleep as Lillian (and Mommy) are still not completely sure about days and nights.

Today, Brent officially entered his 30’s as a married father of two with a house and a dog. To celebrate, we did very mundane things like take the dog on a walk, hang out with Alonzo and grandparents while Lillian and Mommy went to campus, and go grocery shopping before enjoying lasagna for dinner and going out for ice cream after. Nothing like life in the fast lane!

Lillian-

An older Brewer family name, whose linguistic origin is either as a diminutive of Elizabeth or a lengthening of Lily. Elizabeth, and especially its derivative “Betty”, is common on both sides of the family as first and middle names.

Marjorie-

Lillian’s great grandmother (Brent’s father’s mother).  Marjorie Jean Dilts Brewer, with Cyril, raised four children while moving from Tacoma, Washington, to Montana, to Palmer, Alaska, to California, and finally back to Washington. She was active in the PEO and the extension office in Alaska, and teaching music and voice.

This evening Grandma Carol and “Bapa” Tom came in from Seattle. Alonzo and Daddy went down to the airport to pick them up while Mommy and Lillian got the house ready. Alonzo was thrilled to see more visitors.

Today, Catie and Lillian came home from the hospital. Lots of resting, eating, burping (the baby), and changing diapers for all. 🙂 Many thanks to Lillian’s godmother, Erin, for watching Alonzo while Mommy and Daddy got everyone packed up and relocated. Pictures upcoming!
